One in a
million star........ In the beginning of 20th century,
KUTCH was one of the kingdoms in India. Now the same is in state of Gujarat. It
was one of the few kingdoms that was authorized to keep its own currency! The
unit of currency was called Kori. A coin of one Kori or five koris was made from
silver. Smaller coins were called Tambio (= ¼ Kori), Dokado (=1/24 Kori) and
Dhinglo (= 1/16 Kori), these were made from copper. Bhuj is the capital of Kutch.
Population was about 18,000 to 20,000. Main port was Mandavi, about 36 miles
from Bhuj. The Zaveri family was residing at Waniyawad, Bhuj.
The story begins on the 17 April 1911 when the star was born: Jetha means elder,
since he was the elder son of Sakerchand Indarji Zaveri.
Jethabhai got married in May 1931 to Suraj from Anjar. He finished his B. Sc.
With first class from Bombay University in 1930.
In 1933, he got post-graduate Diploma in Electro-technical Engineering from
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He met a Jain Guru, Acharya Tulsi in
1949. When he understood basics of the Jain religion.
The third son renounced material world and became monk on 17 October 1957. This
was a turning point in life of the entire Zaveri family. Jethabhai had a serious
look at the Jain Philosophy. He would spend everyday 48 minutes (Samayak) in
prayers and study of Jain scriptures. This was a life long routine.
He successfully carried out many programs as General Secretary of All India
Anuvrat Samiti for five years from 1961 to 1965. He received his first award as
a reorganization his services to society as Samaj Bandhu, on 21 March 1976, from
Bharat Jain Maha Mandal.
Meanwhile, he founded a manufacturing company by the name of Bharat Bijlee Ltd.,
incorporated on 22 June 1946. He was founder Director and remained MD for 32
years. He collaborated with Siemens, Germany. He led the company for 32 years
until he retired in 1978. Financial Express nominated Shri Jethabhai as Leader
of Industry.
